From 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm , we'll be hosting The Peterson Gallery, LLC grand opening reception and exhibit. The exhibit will focus on pastel and oil landscapes by Rita Roberts (OPA), Diane L. Arenberg, Nancy Henry, Charles Pyle and David Swanson. The public will have an opportunity to "Meet the Artists" on Saturday, February 14 and Sunday, February 15.

Rita Roberts is Awarded OPA Signature

Oil Painters of America has awarded Rita Roberts with signature status. This means that she may now use the initials, OPA after her signature on her oil paintings. These letters indicate to viewers and collectors that her work is recognized by this society of accomplished, master artists, as possessing a high level of expertise and achievement. It is an award of prestige and honor, received by a limited number of artists.

Oil Painters of America is the largest organization in the United States dedicated to preserving and promoting excellence in representational oil paintings. In order to apply for signature status an artist must have been included in at least three national juried OPA exhibitions. According to Betty Schmidt, President of OPA, only about half the artists who apply each year are accepted as signature members.
